Paying for rank is not earning attention.
A bid can move a name. It cannot make the work matter.
The bidding bubble is 10 days old. 10 boards, $248,710 of publicly stated spend, and 97% of it sitting on outbid.lol. Every figure here was read off the boards' own pages, with a link back to where.
Three things we refuse to confuse.

Revenue theatre hides refunds, acquisition costs, and the silent long tail.
The clones arrived after novelty, and attention, had already left.

05A wave of copycat sites where people pay to move up a public ranking. It started on 2026-08-19 and the distribution was decided almost immediately.

The leader says it saw at least ten copycats in its first day. By the time those clones registered their domains, the scarce resource was no longer leaderboard space. It was attention, and the original had already spent it.
outbid.lol launched first and reports $240,675. Every other board in this dataset is competing for what is left.
That is the combined public amount of the other 9 boards. Copying the interface did not copy the distribution.
Half the boards tracked are at or below this. 7 of 10 are under a hundred dollars, and 5 publish no amount at all.
Every board in the dataset, ranked by the amount it publishes about itself. Search it, sort it, or narrow it to the ones that publish nothing at all.
Boards with nothing on the counter. Some are live and simply publish no figure; the rest never served a page at all. Zero here means unproven, not disproven.

This site was never a case against making money on the internet. It is a case against the ninth copy of an idea, sold to people who were told the ranking was the product.
outbid.lol invented the format, shipped it in a night, and took the attention that came with being first. That is not what this site is arguing against. Somebody made something people wanted to look at, and got paid for it.
Nine boards repeated the mechanic within days and split $8,035 between them. Three never shipped a page at all. Copying the interface was never the hard part; the attention had already been spent.
The wave lasted 10 days from the first registration to the last. Nothing new has launched into it since. This record stays up because the pattern will repeat under a different name, not because the boards still matter.
